Studio Update: SoKno Sculpt Interview + Tiny Wilds – Prototype 1

I recently sat down with SoKno Sculpt communications manager Allison Roberts to talk about my creative practice, the experiences that have shaped my work, and why I make art. We discuss how my background in sculpture, art handling, and community engagement informs my approach to creating works that connect people with place, ecology, and one another. From large-scale public installations to smaller functional objects, my practice explores the relationship between built environments and living systems, inviting curiosity, participation, and a deeper awareness of the spaces we share.

Year: 2026 Materials: Steel and living plants Dimensions: 14″ H × 14″ W × 12″ D

“Tiny Wilds – Prototype 1” is a functional living sculpture that merges fabricated steel with the restorative qualities of house plants.

Designed as both a sculptural object and an indoor planter, the work brings natural elements into built environments, supporting cleaner air, reduced stress, and a stronger connection to nature. As the plants grow and change, the piece evolves over time, creating a dynamic relationship between industrial materials and living systems.

Recently shown in “Connections”, the April SoKno Sculpt member exhibition at Mighty Mud, “Tiny Wilds – Prototype 1” offers viewers a unique intersection of contemporary sculpture, biophilic design, and functional art.

Price: $800 (with or without caladium plant)
